I would use fractal noise to create the misty feel and look. I would also use as a displacement for underlying elements. I would then use a feathered mask to take it off…..

Try reducing the resolution of your comp window to get more length to your ram previews.

I also have the PD150 and whilst it does capture nice video, it is DV and thus has a small colorspace versus other formats.
To help when keying this type of footage, I have always found that the key is to try and keep the footage as clean as possible….by this, I mean keeping the footage in it’s native state as much as possible. Do not convert it to to QT or any other format….any proccessing will affect your final outcome.
Now, hopefully your lighting and every other element is ok…. Check to make sure that your composition settings match your footage (720×480) and that your fields on your footage are properly interpreted (lower field first in NTSC land). Also, Barend has an excellent tutorial on procedural matte creation, and Andrew Kramer’s DVD has excellent examples of keying using the keylight plugin.

That is definatly one way, except to get to see the background layer you will have to precomp this comp and then drop the background below. The other way is of course to drop this comp into a new comp and add a layer mask to the comp layer…..It is really a case of 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other….I would probably use the layer mask in a new comp method….

Are you talking in the project window ??? Or on the top bar of the timeline window ? If it is in the project window, then just use folders and give the folders numbers to keep your listing in the order you want….You could also add a number to the beginning of the comps name….

I saw deals like that when I was looking to buy, but for peace of mind I decided to pay a little more and buy from Adobe. It paid off as my update from 6.5 to 7 was free (bought within 3 weeks of update). Actually, I bought the Video collection and they upgraded me to the production suite premium at no cost…..

The only way I would know is to precompose. Adjustement layers affect all layers that are beneath them in the timeline.

Are you set to track fields ???? I also see this when I use the wiggler and set to a frequency that doesn’t evenly divide into my comp frame rate.

You shouldn’t have to reinstall the whole package, the installer is extremely smart…you can install the components you want……it knows what is already installed…it may take literally seconds to re-install the help files. Try doing a repair.
