I would use the main image as a track matte for the work you are going to do. I would then use vector paint and record the strokes (shift paint records) to reveal each stroke. I would probably apply a turbulent displace to the paint strokes to get a more unique and organic look to the strokes. I am not sure if this will give the streaks that you are looking for, but using the scale of the displacement you may be able to get something very close.

Hard to tell from a still what is going on….if the spheres are moving and motion blur is set to the right shutter, then yes this can be done….

Is the alpha exporting correcly ??? You will see this in the channels portion of the layers palette of Photoshop. If it is, then the black is a non-issue…. To get rid of the black if the alpha channel is correct is as simple as loading the selection of the alpha, then on the main layer inverting the selection and hitting delete. If the alpha channel is not right, then there are a number of ways to get rid of the black. I have never had this issue 🙂

Bring the PSD file into Boris on it’s own track, then nest that track onto the face…It will give you way more control than mapping directly.

TRy speeding up or slowing down the credits. Try changing fonts. Also in the preferences, make sure that you set 1:2:1 deflicker (I think that’s the name, am not in front of Boris at the moment) to on.

    Hope this helps

parent the camera to a nul…make your movements and then change keyframe spatial interpolation to linear……this will give very straight lines…. You can then test by converting one at a time to auto bezier.

December 8, 2006 at 11:02 pm in reply to: levels affecting smoothness of background

Try doing a search for banding or 8-bit on this forum….This has been discussed many times in the past. Basically you are seeing the result of working in 8-bit color (16 millions of colors)….You are falling outside of this range…(R,G,B each has 0-255 levels, multiply them for the 16 million possibilites) working in 16-bit would help, but you would encounter the same problems if your output card recompressed to an 8bit colorspace.

I would try adding an adjustement layer. To this I would add a Cyan (maybe a little more blue) tint effect. Then set this adjustement layer to overlay, or maybe add (depends on the luminance intensity of the shot). Use a levels filter on the original shot if the shot gets dark, and use the opacity of the adjustement layer along with the amount to tint of the filter to control the amount of tint.

The advantage with using this method rather than applying the tint directly to the file is that you can better control what is affected.

    Hope this helps
