December 14, 2006 at 6:43 pmHard to tell from a still what is going on….if the spheres are moving and motion blur is set to the right shutter, then yes this can be done….

December 14, 2006 at 6:55 pmi kind of mean.
if i have a still/video shot of lights (traffic lights for example)- No motion.
How can i then treat that video/still, to acquire this kind, of deeply out of focus effect.
The kind of effect you would get if you shot a light out of focus.Hope that

December 14, 2006 at 7:47 pmThe quickest way I know of to achieve this effect is with either Tinderbox or Sapphire. These plug-ins have lens blurs that will bloom the highlights as you defocus which will simulate a true camera lens. There are also more specific settings for diaphragm shape and chromatic aberration that can help you fine tune this effect.

December 14, 2006 at 11:09 pmi feel the lens blur gives the light too much of a soft feathered edge. also image brightness drops.
tinderbox is pretty good. still not as sharp edged as i would like it. -

December 14, 2006 at 11:32 pmAlso try “lenscare” which is the best lens blur simulator out there. But if you’re not going to rack focus, then I would just create the shapes with a mask on a solid and mess with transparencies so the edges are brighter than the core of the shape. Also add a little mask feather to smooth the edges. Then use that as a custom particle in Particular, set the colors to be varied and add a small. Lastly add the Glow effect over the particular output and possibly set the layer to ADD transfer mode over tour BG.
