You might try Raylight for Mac ($150), it is a lot less picky about the file structure, quicker than Log and Transfer, and also imports your metadata into the bin so you can search and sort on clip info. See https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac

Hey Art
Raylight for Mac 3 has been released. It puts metadata in the FCP bin and is customizable. It also does AVC-Intra now, still has the folder creation feature, and some other things. Also $150 vs $500 (?) for MXF4MAC for those who’ve not purchased yet.

Quicktime 7.6.6 also breaks DVFilm Epic I, our DSLR plugin for Vegas. We had to put a note on our product page.
If you can’t find a later version of QT that works, Apple has an official download page for 7.6:

[Edan Cohen] “I still haven’t outputted an HD version. If I buy epic plugin, will I need to re-edit my entire project? If so, what is the process if I’m able use an edl? I can’t start from scratch, I’ll have a heart attack.”
No, you can import a pre-existing project of H.264 quicktime files into Vegas 9/32 using Epic I. Before you try that with the Epic demo however, I would make a backup copy of your project. In fact it would probably be better to try Epic I with a test project first.
The demo is at https://dvfilm.com/epic

April 11, 2009 at 3:59 pm in reply to: P2 Portable AG-HPG20 – No flagged frames support[Charles Binn] “one more question. Will the AG-HPG20 also remove the not tagged frames from 720/25p over 60p? If it removes the not tagged frames what will be stored? 720/25p?”
The HPG20 records 720/60P with tagged frames in that case and then Raylight MXFX 2.0 is used to remove them. It’s a pretty quick process and all the metadata is preserved in the final result. The final result is a new (and smaller!) P2 folder with MXF files in 720/25P format.
It will also work with VFR mode and other pulldown modes, and other cameras. One potential use for example is shoot 48 frames per second for slow motion. MXFX in that case can remove the flagged frames and slow it down to 24P for editing.

April 11, 2009 at 3:43 pm in reply to: P2 Portable AG-HPG20 – No flagged frames support[Jan Crittenden Livingston] “There is a piece of software being developed by DVFilm that will remove the flagged frames from the AVC-Intra. That plug-in will be available about the same time as the P2 Portable.”
DVFilm’s Raylight MXFX 2.0 will have the capability to remove the flagged frames. MXFX 2.0 will be for sale in late April 2009. Here is a short video explaining how it works with the HPG-20:

If your time is money you really need to get Raylight for Mac, https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac it will eliminate this problem and since it creates simple data links into the MXF files there is no time lost or performance penalty in bringing the entire clip into FCP. Raylight takes a moment to scan the clips, you import the links and then you can trim them with the clip viewer in FCP and drop them into the sequence. It should take no more than a few seconds even with clips that are 20 minutes or longer. You also get metadata, automatic sorting of clips and many other advantages.

June 14, 2008 at 2:12 pm in reply to: when importing MFX does FCP duplicates files?FCP Log and Transfer copies the contents of the MXF file into a new quicktime file, but it does not make a duplicate set of MXF files.
To skip the Log and Transfer process and edit the MXF files directly, and access the metadata from within FCP, use Raylight for Mac https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac
