Just to provide closure on an old thread since this issue keeps coming up. DVFilm has a full DVCPROHD codec solution for Windows. To decode or playback DVCPROHD quicktimes only, get Raylight Decoder (it’s $45) at https://dvfilm.com/raylight/decoder
If you need to encode DVCPROHD quicktimes from windows, there is Raylight Encoder Pro (it’s $150) at https://dvfilm.com/raylight/EncoderPro
Both of them have free versions and work with any windows app that handles quicktime format.
By the way they also work with DVCPRO50.

After you convert the 1080-24p footage to quicktime, either by using Log & Transfer or Raylight for Mac, it can then be converted to 1080-25P by using DVFilm Atlantis. The result should then intercut OK with your 1080-25P footage.

Regarding problem 2&3, you might look at Raylight for Mac to import the clips instead of using Log and Transfer. It works on a Power PC. It handles each MXF file separately so there is less chance of a problem with spanned clips (because it ignores spanning and you group-drag the spanned clips into your sequence instead). Also it does not re-wrap the clips but instead makes a small QT reference file, so it runs much faster than Log & Transfer.

Raylight for Mac is $125
The metadata frame is optional (you can turn it off).
Also Raylight will put P2 metadata into the FCP7 bin fields, where you can search or sort on the metadata.

You might try Raylight for Mac, which creates quicktime link files from P2 MXF files. It can also be used to export P2 files from FCP.

Raylight Decoder will allow you to import DVCPROHD quicktimes
to Vegas, see https://dvfilm.com/raylight/decoder -
The DSLR plugin for Vegas, DVFilm Epic I version 1.1 is just out, this supports now
Vegas 9 32-bit
Vegas 9 64-bit
Movie Studio HD Platinum 10Features that might be attractive to CF or proxy users:
1) you can switch between video RGB and computer RGB with a button
2) 4:2:2 upsampling and 10-bit YUV mode is available for rendering
3) real-time playback with no transcoding, no file swapping, so you can start
cutting right awayThere are also some improvements in memory handling vs the standard Vegas QT plugin, so there is better stability for large projects containing DSLR quicktimes, see https://dvfilm.com/epic for more info.

Raylight AVI’s will work in Vegas. However you will lose your metadata. Since you use Vegas it might be better to use the Raylight Ultra direct import feature and you can drop the MXF files directly into the timeline, plus have the ability to search your media for things like userclip name, scene/take, the day it was shot, etc.

May 14, 2010 at 3:13 pm in reply to: HVX200A – 720/23.98pA footage – any hope of converting to real 23.976?You might look at MXFX which can remove most types of pulldown (normal and advanced) from P2 footage, preserves metadata and timecode, etc. and does not have the limitations of cinematools, see https://dvfilm.com/MXFX

You might try a support request through the DVFilm website ( https://dvfilm.com/supportForm.htm ) It’s free, and the authors of the software will get a look at your problem and then ask a bunch of questions. Checking the inbox right now I don’t see anything from you.
