I recently had issues with VP11 and rendering, editing was fine, but I had to uninstall VP11 and all my codecs, then reinstall VP11 then I was able to render my project without incident.

With VP9 I had to use cineform neoscene to edit my 7D footage, worked great, VP11 seems to play natively, but I need to do some further tests.

Deleted VP11, deleted all installed codecs that I could find in my system, reinstalled VP11 and could finally render my project! Unbelievable waste of time when one cannot diagnose what is the root cause of software crashes. Reading posts on this forum has bee very helpful, I tried the “knowledge base” on Sony’s website, this one is far superior.

I cut a short project in VP11, I was using VP9 successfully, and now it’s impossible to render my project. Sometimes it renders video without audio, sometimes it renders both and then hangs at around 50% and then crashes. Sometimes it crashes immediately. I have tried a variety of project settings and different render formats. I have turned on and of the graphics card, changed the bit rate from 8 to 32 and back again. Has anyone successfully rendered a project in VP11? What settings are you using? project & render.

If they had plenty of time to write a contract, and you have very little time to sign it, you are probably going to get screwed.
Providing services, and going into business with someone is a very different arrangement. If you have to ask weather or not to sign this agreement on a forum, sounds like you should not sign or at least get professional (legal) council to interpret the contract and then represent you when things go south.

Take the job, bill the “client” get paid. If it doesn’t blow up, you might get called again, if you don’t take the job, what are the odds that they will call someone else? Quite high.
Document the job, in writing, for what it’s worth. Make your recommendations to do it “better” and send them a bill.
Often the business of filmmaking is very divergent from the art of filmmaking.

Is VP11 not a color managed program? Strange as it is sold as a “finishing” program.
Anyone else have issues with color management and VP11?
What is the “best practice” if I have to use VP11 to finish a project with all grading done within the program?

How does one load a profile into the secondary display? I have a 1 monitor system and cannot find the menu to do this? What am I missing?
I do remember doing this in VP9, and now cannot.System:Win7 VP11

Get both! They are very different cameras and are not interchangeable, use each one for what it does best. If the 5D is too costly, try the 60d, not as shallow a depth of field, but much shallower than a 1/3″ video chip.
