Just downloaded the VP11 update, fixed my GPU issue on the video card, but newbluefx stabilizer still crashes my system, no word from Newbluefx yet.

Just downloaded the update to VP11 and now my graphics card is recognized by the software!

Setting preferences to 8 bit from 32 bit got sony stabilizer working, but not a very good plugin!
Videodub deshaker is a better stabilizer.
Downloaded the trial version of newbluefx stabilizer and it constantly crashes with VP11. It’s made for VP10, but since it’s an “open” plugin shouldn’t it work with 11? Seems like it should, but doesn’t.
Wrote Newbluefx about compatibility, no word yet. looks like I have to do my stabilization effects in Videodub for now and import the clips, what a pain!

One question I have is… is the effect an 8 or 32 bit color space?
I could not play back the “effect” in 32 bit, so to see it on the timeline I need to stay in 8 bit. How is this affecting my project? I’ll do some testing with rendering in 32 bit, after applying the stabilizer in 8 bit then switching back.
I used virtualdub/deshaker to stabilize the same clip that I used the sony effect on, no comparison, the freeware deshaker was much better.
Does anyone know the +/- of using 32 bit vs 8bit for editing?

I was able to get it to work by adjusting “preferences” from 32 bit to 8 bit.

Why would Sony make a useful filter less capable in a newer release? I’m thinking of getting the newbluefx stabilizer filter, anyone have experience with it?

mp4cam2avi freeware conversion I used to “rewrap?” mp4 clips to avi so that virtualdub can work with the clips. All of the codecs are a bit confusing I have to read more about them. I just hope I’m not “down sampling” my footage!

I could not get VP11 stabilizer working on the timeline, only if I selected a clip and opened another instance of VP, so I downloaded virtualdub and deshaker and am experimenting with them. On my first test deshaker worked much better than VP11 stabilizer, now to experiment more. Getting the codec’s running was a bit of a chore with virtualdub, but now it’s working well.
Why Sony can’t incorporate a plug-in that works as well or better than FREEWARE is beyond me.

I just e-mailed Sony about the same think, in VP11 help it does say the 2xx series will work, but on-line it’s 4xx series, probably correct on -line! Naturally I have a GTX250 card and was hoping it would work, not available in the drop down box even with updating all the drivers and the NVDIA software. Figures, more stuff to buy.
