Thank you.

You kind of point out what the real problem is with Adobe PPro these days, as that they break more than they fix.

And, to make it look like they are doing something, they spend more time moving menu’s and panels around, than improving the software.

I’m guessing the fastest way to sort it out, is for you to release a preset to cover the “move arounds”, everytime Adobe releases a new version?

Got to ask:

Did Adobe move your plug-ins on purpose, and are you better off for that?

Or is it that Adobe will want users to use their “Pay-as-You-Go-A.I.” instead to do the job?

I am a long time advocate of Re:Vision Effects.
Back in the day, Twixtor helped me save a Feature Film.
Although they did not have the awards on the shelve back then, both the Director and the DOP have since on other projects got an Oscar (maybe two, can’t remember).

Yes, but once that company get hooked on what is “Candy Crush” for creatives in form of the Pay-as-You-Go-A.I., they’ll soon see the light.

But, have you got yourself an Adobe PPro keyboard? (LogicKeyboards are the best. It doubles as something that is sturdy enough to rob a bank with).

Hey Mary,

Sorry to say this, but I have cancelled my Adobe subscription for several reasons, but on the last PPro 2024 job I had to transcode (on PC) all of the Sony FX6 rushes to ProRes. Because on opening project, no matter where I clicked the mouse, it would crash straight out to Windows.
Once the files was transcoded, it did not crash anymore. But managed to off-load my thoughts on PPro,

It actually felt good.
And, now I have, after a 25-year relationship, terminated my Adobe subscription.
Partly that they are still selling the 100GB Cloud storage, that no longer works for freelancers and SMEs.
And, although many are excited about Firefly, they have yet to understand that Adobe will charge for both subscription and separately “Pay-as-You-Go-A.I.”.

Where to next for me?
I’ve already got Davinci Studio for grading + just an hour ago, received the code for my first ever Avid MediaComposer 3-year licence (Ultimate version).
If Adobe wises up, I might be back, but think unlikely unless they change out their management.

If PPro works for you on v2023, do stay on 23.

For courses, LinkedIN learning is a really good place to start.

It is a bit old (2017), but still loads of good information.

Hey Pete,

I am currently working with a few clients on creating flexible multicam set-ups for recording and streaming.

If all your recordings are post-produced, you might want to consider using your cameras to ISO record on internal media, rather than overloading your MacBook and/or Pixelbook with data.

I am a fan of Elgato, although there are other vendors that offer something similar. But they do seem to have everything in one place:

One little annoying thing, is that Elgato uses third-party software, if you want to capture streams/recording to a specific drive, or for other fun.
OBS – Open Broadcaster Software, is free to use.
I am still learning it, but know many professional AV people who are using it.

If you have budget, then Blackmagic ATEM Mini and/or SDI Pro ISO can do the job, including ISO record your cameras.

Just one word of warning, I have a few years back been on a shoot where Camera Channel 3 on the ATEM mini (HDMI) went black – on investigation, it was suggested that the power-supply was near that channel and when getting hot, it interferred with the signal.
Hopefully Blackmagic has resolved that in newer models.
We were running it for 10-hours, so it did get “pushed”.
But, if you are recording in a small room with little air-circulation, and many lights, you may want to look at how you deal with heat.

Thank you Gabriella for raising that question.
And, thank you Devrim for pointing us in the right direction.

I have cancelled my Adobe subscription, up for renewal this week.
Can’t continue with the endless crashes, missing the Cloud in Creative Cloud that Adobe killed early 2024, and now that they are adding Pay-as-You-Go-AI on top of the subscription cost.
I think that it is time for Adobe to be broken up…
I certainly do not want to finance my own demise by continuing to support Adobe.
(Don’t get me wrong, I am a great fan of A.I., but Adobe is behaving like the Cylons out of Battlestar Gallactica, and have lost all humanity when it comes to their loyal base of freelancers and SMEs – they are using every opportunity to kill us off, or push us to the “free” Adobe Express).

As I already in December 2023 purchased the Davinci Mini Panel I’ve already started my journey on to Davinci Studio, mainly for short-form and grading anything that moves.

But soon starting the hard edit on a 25 min corporate documentary, so have to learn fast to transistion from Adobe Premire Pro and AE to Resolve, Davinci and Fusion.

Any and every suggestion is welcome.

Should add that I am after 15-years away, going back to AVID MC, to use that for Longform, Broadcast and Feature Films. There is another story to tell.

All generative A.I. video platforms can deliver stock-footage, if they can understand your prompt.

But keep in mind that the elements of your Generative A.I. footage will have originated from somewhere.

Hey Amar,

CS6, that is going back some years…

Most likely is that your computers do not have the codec for that GoPro camera installed.

Keep in mind that MP4 is just a container for the video file format, but that it can come in many flavours.

Once you have the codec, even if PPro will not see it, you could consider transcoding it to a .mov format. And, then import to PPro.
