Where did you get practice projects, or beginner jobs, when you first started?

Are there any websites, people, or organizations where you got practice and feedback from?

October 11, 2024 at 4:29 pmHi,
Well, it is hard to find practice projects. The easiest thing you can do is shoot something or get some free stock footage and experiment. For training, you can follow the Davinci training website (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training) You can follow the schedule and attend one of their courses. They do it via Zoom. About 5 days and 5 hours each day. They have different courses for editing and colour grading. And also there is Youtube for training.

October 11, 2024 at 6:56 pmOkay cool thanks, I already read their editors 18 manual, and watched their 5 day editor courses even when I did not have the software yet. I am currently reading the beginner’s manual. So, looks like I need to edit and experiment with stock footage. I’m doing a udemy course right now, the teacher gave us over 100 videos to practice with. Thanks for your help.

October 22, 2024 at 1:49 amThank you Gabriella for raising that question.
And, thank you Devrim for pointing us in the right direction.I have cancelled my Adobe subscription, up for renewal this week.
Can’t continue with the endless crashes, missing the Cloud in Creative Cloud that Adobe killed early 2024, and now that they are adding Pay-as-You-Go-AI on top of the subscription cost.
I think that it is time for Adobe to be broken up…
I certainly do not want to finance my own demise by continuing to support Adobe.
(Don’t get me wrong, I am a great fan of A.I., but Adobe is behaving like the Cylons out of Battlestar Gallactica, and have lost all humanity when it comes to their loyal base of freelancers and SMEs – they are using every opportunity to kill us off, or push us to the “free” Adobe Express). As I already in December 2023 purchased the Davinci Mini Panel I’ve already started my journey on to Davinci Studio, mainly for short-form and grading anything that moves.
But soon starting the hard edit on a 25 min corporate documentary, so have to learn fast to transistion from Adobe Premire Pro and AE to Resolve, Davinci and Fusion.
Any and every suggestion is welcome.
Should add that I am after 15-years away, going back to AVID MC, to use that for Longform, Broadcast and Feature Films. There is another story to tell.
