Not sure that I would trust GROK or any AI on getting the inner workings of a PC right.

On initial look at your specifications, I would have thought that Davinci would open.
Though looking twice, your Intel i7 processor is from a generation of processors that are over 10-years old, which might be where the initial problem is.
Or you might have missed an “1” in front of the 4770?

Form factor is just that, it is small, and often purchased a specific purpose. Whether roll-out across a large office, or used for digital signage, but not the PC that you’ll want to use to add your own expansion cards. On the pictures that I could find of the internals of your Dell, there is no obvious place to plug in an extra card.

Good news, for now, is that there are smarter people than me around here, who might know more about squeezing graphics cards into a small form factor desktop PC.

But first, you should look again at the version of the Intel processor.

Hey Will,

Just adding to the above suggestions.

You are going to be hard-pressed finding an AI software that will automatically find the tags, and remove them.

However, the biggest time consumer will be to go through all the footage, and there AI can help you.

Both of these online platforms starts from free. One word of advice, only select what you want it to search for, or you’ll get much more than you bargained for in meta-data, and cost of analysing.

In some cases you may need to upload a image of what you are looking for – this is normally used for identifying people, but can’t see why it could not also be used for your purpose.

Also keep in mind that AI is not perfect, but will save time for you.

Sorry, should have added that on the “legaliser” part, you have options such as BorisFX Sapphire or Continuum – both can be hired on a monthly basis.

I’m still waiting for BorisFX to come up with a transfer plan for my BCC and Mocha Pro from Adobe CC to Davinci and Avid.
As I’ve heard nothing, I’m guessing that I am on the monthly plan for if and when needed – if ever, as I am learning new tools…

Not a fan of of frame.io either – feels like a better looking Dropbox with less functionality, when I last tried it. And, that is not a compliment to Dropbox either…

I have a mix of OneDrive and Google driver for working with my customers.
They each have distinctive features on the base package that makes them worthwhile using.
OneDrive comes with a host of Microsoft Office apps, and Google Drive comes with FitBit premium and Google Space premium features including for Google meet.

Google Drive is also easy to scale up and down. Earlier this year I landed a Feature Film to work on, and had to increase to 5TB of space, which was easy. You can also scale to 30TB on a monthly plan that is already priced in advance, so you can charge it back to your client(s).

If you have a MotionArray subscription, then there is access to a review function with them. Although, they appear to move it out of the main-site.

Back in the day, Hightail (YouSendit) used to be my go to. They have a plan that starts from free:

Hey Sean,

I’m guessing that you are thinking about a DCP delivery?
Although “DPP is the international association for media and technology.” that is involved in proposing and agreeing industry standards such as DCP and AS-11.

I just recently switched from PPro to Davinci and MediaComposer, still getting used to it. Should add that I am “in-between” computers (PC) for running the software, which is a long story yet to be told. Once I get that sorted out, I’ll take the AVID MC for a spin.

For monitoring, I use OmniScope Pro:

It also has a QC element that I have yet to use in anger.

One thing to watch out for is whether the client wants REC.709 or REC.2020 or REC.2100?
There are other options, but basically it comes down to 4K, HDR or not.

Starting point would be for you to get the specs from the end-client.

Once you have that, it should be straightforward to QC and wrap in a DCP or similar.
Although, you may want to check audio requirements too.

However, if Maxon is not open for business, they can not sell.

Question is whether the training resources and pre-made models for Blender outperforms in variety and availability to what is available for C4D?

Then there is the elephants in the room in form of tools found in Unreal and Unity – yes, both Blender and C4D can feed into those sytems. But the key word is “feed”.

As said, I gave up on Maxon when they gave up on me.

My boys will be encouraged to use Blender, Unreal and Unity -> that doesn’t mean that they can not crossover to C4D and other tools.
Question is that when that time arrives, will A.I. prompting have put all of us professionals out of business, or replaced some of the expensive bespoke software solutions?

Hey Dan,

Are you looking for internal or external SSD drives?

Are you editing on PC or Mac?

And, what format is your footage, Proxy, 2K, 4K..?

I currently use Samsung T7 (rugged at 1050 Mbps) and Samsung T9 (Roughly 2000 Mbps).
Both of these drives can also be used as external recording media on some cameras, like Blackmagic.

My last buy, recently, was a T9 4TB, which was for a last minute back-up.

There are some good 2TB offers in the Black Friday / Monday Cyber sale.

One thing to watch out for is that the different colors of the T7 sometimes sell at reduced pricing. So if you are looking at Blue, do check pricing on the Red and Black…

And if you just want to dip your “toes in the water” maybe head over to Argos and look at the price of the 1TB T7 SSD – at a level where they start competing against delivering to client on Digi-Beta (back in the day 😉).

Also, OWC does some nice Thunderbolt boxes that you can hang 4 drives on the back, straight into the computer (Samsung T SSD series, are NOT Thunderbolt, but still running a high capacity).

If looking at internal, the Samsung 990 Pro runs at between 6000 & 7000 Mbps…

Hey Peter,

It is likely that your and hers install is tied into your computer’s I/P address or similar. Don’t know if a VPN would resolve it, but worth a try.

However, Avid has got a good thing going where they offer a full MediaComposer licence for film students to train on, so that might be a better option than “First”.

Hope that you don’t mind me asking; what territory are you based in?

I don;t know enough about your system setup, like if it is PC or Mac?
Do you have any other monitor out from it?
This might allow you to ignore the Blackmagic card.

I’ve still got to install my MediaComposer licence, which I planned to get up to speed with over Christmas. So I don’t know about audio routing. But if on PC, you should be able to select one or the other, or both.

In my setup I use the IK iLoud Micro Monitor and is very happy with that for the size of my workspace. They have Bluetooth, phono and Stereo mini-jack as input.

If I had more room that could give bigger speakers the space for the audio to “travel” then that would be my preference.

When in doubt, I use head-phones.

I would suggest that you check if the breakout cable works whilst HDMI is played back on the screen?
You could also plug in, I hope, headphones to the television and listen to if that works?
Yes, the purist will say that embedding audio into HDMI, then extracting it a processing it out analogue to headphones might not give you the best end-result for high-end audio.

It is Black Friday sale today and Cyber Monday on Monday. If you see something that you feel good about, and the price matches your budget, maybe it is worth taking jump in and see where it leads you?
