What are alternatives of frame.io
Posted by Rohan Mehta on December 8, 2024 at 7:55 pmI tried frame.io, I don’t need all sort of features it is providing plus I find it bit costly. Any alternative you guys are currently using?

December 10, 2024 at 7:53 amHi,
What is your most important need when using frame.io? Some people use Vimeo, some upload to YouTube, and some use OneDrive, Google Drive, Note Tracks, and Krock. Which feature of Frameio can you sacrifice?

December 10, 2024 at 8:14 amWell, I didn’t use it, but as I can see, krock.io seems like a good option.

December 10, 2024 at 8:32 amThe Vimeo starter plan might work then, it gives you 100GB of space. The client can write notes on the video, you can share it publicly or password-protected. You can share it with multiple people.

December 17, 2024 at 1:13 pmHey Rohan,
Not a fan of of frame.io either – feels like a better looking Dropbox with less functionality, when I last tried it. And, that is not a compliment to Dropbox either…
I have a mix of OneDrive and Google driver for working with my customers.
They each have distinctive features on the base package that makes them worthwhile using.
OneDrive comes with a host of Microsoft Office apps, and Google Drive comes with FitBit premium and Google Space premium features including for Google meet.Google Drive is also easy to scale up and down. Earlier this year I landed a Feature Film to work on, and had to increase to 5TB of space, which was easy. You can also scale to 30TB on a monthly plan that is already priced in advance, so you can charge it back to your client(s).
If you have a MotionArray subscription, then there is access to a review function with them. Although, they appear to move it out of the main-site.
Back in the day, Hightail (YouSendit) used to be my go to. They have a plan that starts from free:
