You can only get timcode from the RS-422 port on your 1800. You need a USB to Serial adaptor such as the Keyspan Twin Serial Adapter.

You will also need a DB9 Male to Mini Din 8 Male cable to connect from the Keyspan Adapter to the RS-422 serial control port on your 1800.
The bonus is that this will allow you to control your 1800 using device control. -
Create a new Sequence. Select the clips in the old sequence and drag them to the Canvas selecting overwrite or insert with transition. All of the clips will have the default transition applied. Be sure the tab for the new sequence is active and that you have enough head and tail on the clips for the transitions.

There is no direct MPEG 2 encoder in the Quicktime Export in FCP. You can export directly to Compressor and then encode an MPEG 2 in Compressor. Or you could export to a “by reference” (smaller file size) or “self contained” (larger file size) Quicktime movie and then use Compressor or some other MPEG 2 encoder such as Squeeze.

When starting a new project Easy Setup is your best bet. It’s under the Final Cut Pro menu. Choose the Easy Setting AJA Io- NTSC US Betacam 10-bit uncompressed. This sets your sequence and capture setting to match. Keep in mind that if you’ve created a sequence prior to setting the Easy Setup then your sequence (timeline won’t match). Easy Setting only work with a new sequence. I usually trash the defalut sequence in a new project, set the Easy Setting, and then create a new Sequence.One workflow you can try is to set the Easy Setting, make a new Sequence, and then copy your clips from the old sequence into the new. If you’ve captured 10-bit clips they should play in the new timeline.

I find the motion path in FCP to be very frustrating. You are supposed to be able to adjust the distance of the Bezier handles from the beginning and end key frames to control the velocity of the move. I could never get it to work. I do all of my pans and scans in Motion, which has superior key framing. There is also this plug-in from Stage Tools for pans and zooms https://www.stagetools.com/ . As long as your white does not exceed R=235, G=235, and B=235 your should be o.k. Display the animation in the FCP waveform monitor and verify that the whites don’t exceed 100%. If so you can either adjust the background in AE or add a filter such as Proc Amp or Three Way Color to adjust the max level.Good luck,
