    Running Dual 2.0 G5 Os X 10.4.5
    Have a brand-new-out-of-the-box AJA.

    Problem:
In FCP, in my Audio/Video settings, i have the Timeline set to preview using the 10-bit RGB setting.
-it works great previewing from the timeline.
-it doesn’t work so great when printing to tape. it gives a green color output.

The only solution i can find is to use a seperate codec for timeline preview & print to tape.
-i use the 10-bit Beta 525 codec printing to tape.

It use to not be like this, until one day it all of a sudden decided to act like this. I thought maybe i had some wires (literally, i thought maybe some of the component cables were crossed) mixed up, but apparently the output of my aja (when using the Beta 525 codec; which makes my timeline preview green) only uses the GREEN channel for output…..its like the other two don’t even work when using that codec….

*and when i mean timelime preview, i mean when i’m viewing it from a SONY Trinitron “super fine pitch” monitor.

And yes i have called aja, and thats why i have a brand new box sitting next to me……but maybe now i can explain my problem a little bit better.

i can still work using two different codecs, its not like it has stopped production. But i’m almost sure that the previous setting used ONE codec. Not TWO.

    thanks

    Phil:
When starting a new project Easy Setup is your best bet. It’s under the Final Cut Pro menu. Choose the Easy Setting AJA Io- NTSC US Betacam 10-bit uncompressed. This sets your sequence and capture setting to match. Keep in mind that if you’ve created a sequence prior to setting the Easy Setup then your sequence (timeline won’t match). Easy Setting only work with a new sequence. I usually trash the defalut sequence in a new project, set the Easy Setting, and then create a new Sequence.

One workflow you can try is to set the Easy Setting, make a new Sequence, and then copy your clips from the old sequence into the new. If you’ve captured 10-bit clips they should play in the new timeline.

    Good luck.

    You answered your own question.

Your sequence setting is set to RGB but you are outputting to beta which is YRB.

Your problem is you have an selected RGB which is incorrect for your output.

so is there a way to fix this?….to change my sequence setting so that it too is YRB??? or is that just not possible?

    thanks.
