I also noticed what looked like improper field dominance. All of the movement was very jittery, and not the kind that comes from a reduced frame rate. Anybody else notice this?

I’m assuming batch export went with the ability to select via in and out points what you want to export.

Why not open FCP 7 (for those who have it), go to the bars and tone generator, and export a clip in the size and frame rate you need. Import that into FCP X. :30 seconds at ProRes wouldn’t take up that much space.

Unfortunately for us it was a bit farther off line. We edited cuts only 3/4 window dubs and then entered the in and out points for each edit into Edit Lister. We used two BVU-800’s with Timecode record so we could verify the accuracy of our lists via the record in times. Put that to RT 11 disc and off to post we went. It was an improvement over the pen and paper edl’s that were used when I got there. In 1996 I purchased a PC based CMX emulator from Editing Technologies Corp. For about the same price as a BVE-910 you got QWERTY keyboard, 10,000 events (ten bins), five machine and switcher control, GPIs, and auto list clean if desired. Direct connection to each machine, no VLAN or other interface required. Controlled 3/4inch then moved up to DVCPro. Don’t miss linear editing.

As a producer I posted a project at Crawford in the late 80’s. The editor was using ACE and wasn’t thrilled with the touch screen. Prior to the online we did an offline using a PC program called Edit Lister (remember the 8-inch RT-11 floppy disk) so it was a lot of auto assembly and clean up.

July 6, 2011 at 8:04 pm in reply to: Allow me to introduce myself… and a bit of NLE history.Around the same time I was a producer for an interactive media project at Florida State University. The delivery system consisted of Pioneer 12″ laserdisc player controlled by the Apple IIGS with graphic overlay card. We produced four interactive programs for Middle School Science under a grant from the NSF and Houghton Mifflin Publishing. We offlined (3/4-inch U-matic) using a PC based program called Edit Lister (remember 8″ floppy discs) and then onlined to One-inch tape at a CMX facility. Those were the days.

I’m having the same problem, but with DV capture over FireWire. New files resulting from TC breaks have the same durration as the original clip. Black fills in the rest of the clip’s durration. Haven’t tested with my AJA Io. I did not have this problem with earlier versions of FCP. I taken to marking out at the last frame of video and ding a batch export. Extra step I don’t enjoy.
