im seriously so sick of people talking about this software until anyone actually knows whats up with it. Everyones been saying the exact same thing since the day of release, we know all the pro’s opinions already, why re iterate. Sure were all curious whats gonna happen, but everything is so speculative that it drives me nuts.

sorry had to vent a little.

[Neil Goodman] “but everything is so speculative that it drives me nuts.”

    Speculation is all we have.

And for more speculation, I hope IBC brings some news.

The presentation is as much if not more about the industry than FCPX specifically. It gives insight into the decision making process at facilities as well as insight into post product introduction and marketing. This is NOT a forum about FCPX “feature sets” so much as about industry decisions making and directions.

It a forum about the business rather than about the software. Sure the product in question is FCPX but this forum has broader value.

Personally, I think a good portion of this forum is focused on the software and not enough focused on the business side of things.

Also, some insight into what schools are doing.

Yes, in fact it shows the difference between facility and education purchasing decision timetables.

It’s also interesting to note the decision making process in different market sectors between Avid, Premiere and “wait and see.”

It might also mean Apple timed things from NAB forward as a game of “beat the clock.”

Glad to see they fixed the field order problem that plagued the live broadcast.

We’re very proud of the panel, and we here at Key Code Media worked extremely hard to deliver a a panel that would not dwell on what Apple did or did not do with FCP X – but where the industry is going and is FCP even involved.

We were able to fix, and in some places, even improve the show from the original broadcast. We plan to do more events in the future, and would appreciate constructive feedback on what topics are interesting to the industry as a whole for the future.

Check out the trailer video (a bit more dramatic than the panel) And the 3D behind the scenes stuff. We also posted our entire workflow, if interested.

Thanks for the great forum. I have been looking for as much intelligent discussion about FCX and editing as I can find, and I have to say I was especially impressed with Larry Jordan and my brain is still trying to catch up with where Michael Cioni took it.

I’m very curious about what a company like Keycode is telling their clients. Were you guys taken by surprise by this? Are you telling people to wait and see?

I’m guessing that you are selling a lot of Avid these days. Even more with what could be a mass exodus from Final Cut.

    ———
I’m calling it FCX. They took the “pro” out, so I will too.
I’ll reconsider after the first upgrade.

Keycode is a very big purveyor of Avid here in L.A., and Michael Kammes works for them. They will undoubtedly sell loads of new Avid product as FCP users head for the hills.

For the record, I went over to Keycode to meet with Michael on this very subject about a week before the “seminar,” and thanks to his quickie Avid lesson and his kind encouragement, I’m now retraining myself on Avid after a twelve year Avid hiatus. Unless Randy Ubillos and his crew at Apple deliver something vastly superior to iMovie Pro 1.0 in the next few months, I’ll certainly be an all Avid facility, unless I get calls for work on FCP 7 that is.
