Hi Mark,

The best way to “defrag” will be to move everything out of the drive. Reformat, then move the back in.

Drives will slow down (sometimes very dramtically) as they get filled.

48kHz should work fine on the Mac. What is the output of your DeckLink HD SPDIF output connected to?

Try quiting all video applications, and then play something from iTunes. Any problems doing so?

Is this a SD or HD monitor? Does it have SDI inputs?

Do you get the Windows desktop on it when no applications are opened?

Have you tried switching the video resolution of the desktop provided by the DeckLink card to see if anything happens?

Could this be a drive speed issue? What sort of storage are you capturing and playing back from? Have your tired the Disk Speed test and what results did you get?

What kind of compression are you using when creating the QT file from your sequence? You mentioned MPEG2s and some ofrm of video streaming codec. Was any resizing of the video done at all?

Was it done using a straight ‘export’ in Final Cut Pro (File > Export > Quicktime Movie)?

Hi,

When using a Panasonic deck, you should switch the protocol from Sony to Panasonic.

[Post Man] “Are the Capture and Playback Offsets the same?”

This will differ from deck to deck and even decks of the same make may have different offsets. You should experiment with capturing and playback to your deck to find its offsets. The default settings is a good starting point.

Hi Xavier,

Steve is right. Just use one of our easy setups. Make sure you’re dragging the captured clip to a sequence created [b]after[/b] choosing the easy setups.

If you want to output the DV clip captured using our easy setups to your deck/camera via firewire, then rechoose the Apple DV – PAL setup and drop the captured clip in there.

It should be set to RGB.

It shouldn’t work if it’s set to 8-bit / 10-bit. But if it did, then you’re lucky. 😉

If your cadence (A frame) doesn’t start on frame 00, you can change that in the Blackmagic DeckLink Preferences.
