In software mode, the all outputs of the Multibridge Extreme gets down converted.

In hardware mode, the following configuration is available:

For example, when hardware down conversion is switched on:

Channel A output: HD-SDI
Channel B output: SD-SDI

Component output: HD
Composite Output: – (Composite signal does not have enough bandwidth for HD)

When hardware down conversion is switched on with the “Enable Down Conversion on Analog Output” enabled:

Channel A output: HD-SDI
Channel B output: SD-SDI

Component output: SD
Composite output: SD

At all times, the DVI-D output is in HD.

Hi Chris,

This is based on Quicktime. You can use Blackmagic Framelink to “mount” a series of DPXs as a Quicktime movie and play that out via the DVI port of the Multibridge Extreme.

That’s correct. If you already have a DeckLink HD card, then the Multibridge HD will be ideal when you want to capture from analog video sources into your DeckLink HD.

Hi,

I’m not sure what you mean by up conversion in this instance. We do not do upconversion of SD to HD. However, HDV and DVCPRO HD will play out of our cards in full res HD 1280×720 and 1920×1080 for ingestion into a HDCam deck.

Not only that.

The Multibridge Extreme also supports 2K playout via the DVI-D to a 30″ display. It can also be connected to your PCI-Express G5 via the provided PCIe card so that you can capture video directly. The Multibridge HD can only be used as a converter and not a capture device.

Hi Sean,

What is the framerate of your DVCPRO HD clip. Note that if you’re working in 720p, we only down convert from 59.94 to NTSC.

If your footage is in HD 1080, we down convert 1080i23.98 and 59.94 to NTSC, 1080i50 or 1080PsF25 to PAL.

Hi,

We currently do not support 20p down conversion on the Multibridge Extreme in hardware mode. If you want to do down conversion of a 720p 59.94 clip to NTSC, please use the software down conversion option.

When the Multibridge Extreme is connected to the Mac via the PCIe cable, you change settings in the Blackmagic DeckLink Preferences. If the Multibridge Extreme is not connected to the PCIe card in your G5, it is operating in standalone mode. You’ll need to change the options using the Multibridge Utility and a USB connection to the Multibridge s required.

Cehck if UMID is turned on on your deck. If it is, try turning it off. The option should be availabe in the menu.
