March 28, 2006 at 5:48 pmwell it seems to work fine so far. nothing DOESN’T work that worked before.
I have no idea what “support for close captioning” means or what I can do with it. Once in a blue moon it’d be nice to add CC to a video file instead of sending it out and waiting 12 hours for turnarounf… the manual that comes with the installer is from last year.

March 29, 2006 at 2:15 amIf it means what I hope it means, then we can use our Leapfrog CC software to work with Decklink Extreme, on the Analog outputs, which wasn’t working before.
In other words, you can create your caption files and insert them over video, then output to, say, a Beta SP deck.
Is that right, BMD?

I’m sure the hordes of other users that also do this are similarly excited 😉

March 29, 2006 at 2:39 pmreally, i dont want to bash blackmagic. we own the multibridge extreme, in most cases you can work with it. some bugs are makeing our live, well lets say difficult and so we all are waiting for updates. i installed the new 5.5 drivers and…..suddenly no video output anymore. deinstalled, reinstalled and the same problem.
besides that we in europe are waiting for an 720p50 support since a long time these bugs cant be true. some of us have to earn money and….yes, i know, always the same story but it -

March 29, 2006 at 4:00 pmI haven’t updated yet. Does the CC support let me see if closed captioning exists on something we captured? This was actually a huge problem for us. We would get promo footage from a film and not be able to see if CC was on the footage. Then we would pass this on… If we can suppress CC on capture, that would be huge!
Any other cool updates? Center cut 4:3 downconvert on Decklink Pro HD?

March 29, 2006 at 5:40 pmI’ve quickly tried 5.5 with Premiere 2.0 NTSC and found two important fixes…
1) 1394 capture works.
2) Source viewer plays through the decklink card in DV jobs. -
