  • Maxing out your audio at 0dB is not a good idea for digital files because there is no headroom for postprocessing. Always leave headroom.

Are you taking them directly off of the card or did you offload them on to a drive?

  • It will work but not as smooth as a newer model with a better graphics card and faster processors. You will also need to double the amount of installed RAM as 8GB is not enough for the memory pool.

  • As a good practice you should mix for a nominal level of -6dB instead of 0. Digital is not as forgiving as analog and use of compression and limiters affect the digital signal a little differently than analog. If you are mixing for loudness apply a tad bit more compression to lessen the dynamic range but don’t push to close to the digital limit because once you go over you can never get it back. That includes whatever happens with post processing. Give yourself some headroom.

For conversations sake, One way to do this would be to create a master comp in AE with text attributes and the make pre comps for each text element and then use Dynamic Link to add those pre-comps to the PrPro Project. than if you need to change any of the global atributes you can update the Master comp in AE and it will procedurally change all of the elements.

Pretty vague statement. But I can gather from your last post that you probably have a bad install or there are things in your user profile that are conflicting with CS6.

If you are using this in a full or part time editing environment it will save you a lot of time and headaches to just do a clean install. Sure it takes time but it will take up more time trying to work with a bad install of the suite.

Since you are downscaling and deinterlacing it will take a bit of time. Your mileage may vary depending on your system specs.

One thing you can do to speed up the process is to set the encoding pass from VBR to CBR.

As Kev said, your hardware will make a huge difference in what you can do with PrPro. I find it very capable with almost everything that I used to do in FCP.

When using DynLink with AE be sure to set your AE comp resolution to 1/2 or less for smooth playback in the PrPro timeline and then set it back to full when doing the final encode.

I had about 6 months of really crappy experience with the PrPro performance until I did a complete system overhaul from the ground up and installing CS6 before anything else. After that it has been running fairly smooth. You can diagnose your install by loggin into the root user account firing up PrPro and put it through it’s paces. My gurss is you will see better performance in the root than in your own profile. You can also create another user acct to do the test if you are not comfortable with the superuser acct.
