Not in the text editor, A work around would be to lay off your titles into a separate sequence and apply an adjustment layer to change the color and then nest the sequence back into the cut.

June 12, 2013 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Desaturated, too bright footage after rendering

I am going to assume that you are talking about encoding the final file and not rendering the timeline.

Every project will require specific settings based on the original footage and since your source is so dark you will probably have to do some creative tweaking and AME may not give you enough control over the image.

If it were me I would take a small 10 second clip to encode. Sart with your gamma settings and or black restore. What perplexes me is that you are experiencing the same result rendering out of AE. If you render out of AE with and Animation codec are you still seeing the lifted blacks.

It would help if you shared your encoding settings, otherwise no one here will be able to tell what you are or are not doing in your encoding pass

June 11, 2013 at 3:18 pm in reply to: Time indicator navigation problem

Select the pulldown menu in the top righthand corner of the sequence window and deselect “show audio time units” your timeline numbers should then return to default. As far as the moving the playhead with the left and right arrow keys are concerned go into your keyboard shortcuts and make sure they are set to the default or select one of the preset layouts and reload it. That should solve the problem.

  • I am going to guess a corrupt header in the quicktime files. Just for kicks try to open in MPEG streamclip.

  • Use AME for all your pre DVD build encoding Start with the presets and tweak from there for optimal quality. Sending media straight to encore from any app is analogous to putting on a blindfold and getting behind the wheel of a car.

June 11, 2013 at 1:32 pm in reply to: best export settings for 60p project??

You can encode a final copy at 59.94 and a you tube version at 29.97p. Start with the presets in AME and tweak to taste.

June 11, 2013 at 1:30 pm in reply to: Timecode breaks in Rendered MPEG2

HAve you watched the encoded file from front to end and does everything seem normal in the picture. You should also ask if QC can provide you with the exact frame where the TC breaks.

My guess is it is probably something simple but impossible to troubleshoot without more info. You could try to do a pass with a slightly lower bitrate as a data spike could possibly break the timecode stream but that is unlikely.

  • Scale the source footage in the timeline and then export via AME.

  • Are you saying that you have letterboxing on a DV 720×480 source. So what you have is a 16×9 in a 4×3 space that you need to scale up to fill the whole screen.

If I am not misunderstanding you can just scale the video and then export, but something tells me that I might have misunderstood your scenario.
