I’ve never used a bamboo tablet so I couldnt tell you the difference. Yes the medium is good size if you have limited desk space.
I have a 6×9 that I just retired for a 6×11 with is awesome and I also have a 4×6 on my desk at home that is used sparingly.
Unless they are mistreated they last forever so you might be able to find an intuos 3 on ebay or CL for under $100

I’ve been using a Wacom intuos tablet for the last 7 years and wrist strains and pains completely disappeared. This is 8 to 10 hours of work with it a day. Might want to give one a try.

What is your workflow using Dynamiclink, because it works for me using the workflow from the above post.

It is in fact not the encoding pass from Media encoder but as you speculated more than likely the spec of your old mac book not being able to decode that particular file from Media encoder. Under the hood all of these programs use their own Algorithms to make your video magic happen and one encoder may export a more friendly less heavy file. I would not really worry as you are uploading to youtube anyway and they will post process the file so it streams smoothly.
Just a suggestion. If you are working with short form media 10 min or under, don’t bother using a VBR pass, you will invariably be wasting time and bits (quality). use a CBR and set to your desired bitrate. Your encoding will be faster and you know that the quality will be equal through the entire program.

June 6, 2013 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Stopping render mid-way but keeping progress – possible?PrPro works a little different in that you do not have to render the sequence before exporting it. Unless there is an absolute need to render the timeline you should just send it to Media encoder for final export.
The render files in the timeline are just previews and if you de end up rendering, make shure to check “use Previews” in the media encoder settings.
I know that does not help with your actual question but it may give you some insight on the PrPro workflow.
good luck.

And are you referencing your external monitor or the program window in PrPro?

This is a feature that I for one am greatly looking forward to, and it’s only 10 days away!

Dynamic link will work in PrPro with AE closed. I do this all the time with DL clips. It sounds like your workflow needs a bit of tuning.
From PrPro select “Replace with After Effects Composition” the clip or clips will open in AE. Do your blurs and then switch back to PrPro and you will see your updated clips. YOu can then save the AE project and close the program without loosing your link in PrPro.
Be aware the Dynamic link uses the composition resolution from AE, so if you are working in AE at 1/4 res that is the res you will see in PrPro, so make sure before you export that your AE comp is set to full resolution.

Not really sure why that is happening, but you could look at your audio capture settings. As a general workflow, when I am doing a VO or recording external audio I always use audition and then export that audio into PrPro.

Start with the Blu ray presets in AME. It is really very difficult to sugest specific settings when discussing encoding because each video piece may require something different other than just setting bitrate for the length of the program.
YOur best workflow will be starting with the presets, as they are fairly good, and then tweaking your bitrate and other parameters to obtain the optimal encoded image. Remember you re balancing between quality and length of encode and that once you hit a certain threshold very small improvements in image quality can add an extraordinary amount of time to the processing.
Start with a small chunk to test your settings and you can then calculate an approximate time at specific settings.
