If you have 709 monitor… with a proper signal path, and your image looks the way you want it to on that monitor. Then yes, congratulations your image is now a 709 image! Your source footage does not and frequently is not in 709 to begin with though.

There is no “video” camera that records in sRGB (if you want to use that as an example). But there are cameras that record in or allow you to view/work with footage in color spaces like s-log, c-log, LogC, RedLogFilm, etc. You would then “grade” this material into your target color space. DCP uses XYZ encoding… this is like using RGB or YUV. It’s not in and of itself the “color space” that DCP uses. In practice DCP contains images intended for P3 color space.
You footage should be in whatever space you acquired it in. And you grade it to whatever space you’re able to properly display. For (I’d like to say most… but really it’s actually a few that are properly using it) some that’s 709, and for even fewer that’s P3.

You can’t get more bits out than you have going in. So while you can flatten out the image that is there. It won’t improve anything or give you more latitude.
btw, it’s log as in logarithmic, not LOG as in LetOperatorGuessexposure.

You need to be sure to set the config to match your incoming signal.

I agree with Eric, this is a latency issue and is due to the way the OS is handling the network share. Some program will realize a file system is not direct attached and preread the a clip ahead so as to avoid dropping frames due to latency. Resolve definitely prefers direct attached media.

To clarify, when you overload your MacPro power supply, it drops dead. As if you’d pulled out the power cord. No warning, no graceful exit. Just rug out from under. If you were committing a write operation to discs at that moment it would almost certainly be an issue. And eventually you could fail components in your box. So let David test this for you. Don’t run a system which exhibits this behavior.

Ummmm all you have to do now is right click on the Thumbnail and click on “Generate 3D LUT”. That’s covered on page 560 of the manual.
And like i said, waaaaaaay easier.
