But the over/under data should still be available to you in resolve and simply pulling lift up/gain down will restore them. Are you doing “auto” when you render or manually setting your levels? What is your monitoring setup in resolve?

December 11, 2014 at 12:23 am in reply to: Video and Data Levels – Avid Media Composer Workflow IssueAvid’s desktop display is set to show extended range, so blacks are actually grey, and whites are a bit lower. In other words, if the 7D looks nice and contrasty on your desktop in Avid, it’s actually wrong and crushed in terms of image values.
This is why it’s helpful to use an interface and look at the image on an external monitor, both for Avid and resolve. If the image is handled properly, and both are setup correctly, then the image should be consistent.

[andrew sableton] “If I purchase a dongle with the Resolve 11 software disk, and connect it to my mac with Resolve 9 Lite on it, will Resolve 9 Lite operate as the full version? “
No, you’d need to download the v9 full version installer. Don’t know if this is on the website or not.
[andrew sableton] “If not, how do I upgrade to Resolve 9 (full version) (for a number of reasons I need to stay on version 9 for now)”
The new dongle will still work with version 9… you just need the installer.
Out of curiosity, what’s the reason for not wanting to ugrade?

If you give the shots you want to loop a flag (same color) then filter by that flag, you should be able to loop through them.

November 29, 2014 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Copy qualifier isolation settings-PART TWO QUESTIONWorth noting, if you select a node, hit cmd-C, then go to the new shot, add a node and then hit CMD-V. It will copy the settings over from that specific node, and only that node.

The tricky bit here is that the track nodes get processed after the clip nodes… the clip nodes are meant to be live, so if the clip node is processed on the fly, then to the timeline the clip has been updated, there by negating the track node cache.

It’s normal. As I pointed out last time someone asked this, the qualifiers works in float space, and let’s you differentiate below black and over white values, as well as visible values.

Luckily BMD has just made a free version of Fusion available, which could handle this quite effortlessly.
