I do it all the time – as Job said, I loop the video out of the first deck, but chase the timecode on the second deck and crash record it.

    Jean –

Check your QT version and make sure it’s the one called for in the readme. I have the exact problem on a freelance gig – the producer upgraded his QT to far. The mixer and EQ work fine, but audiosuite crashes to the desktop.

It really depends on what your final product is…

If you are working with an SD analog source (Beta SP), and plan to send it back to Beta, keep setup.

If you are working with a digital source, and plan to go to a file-based format, setup is not necessary.

There will be caveats to everything. Some old-school engineers insist on seeing 7.5 IRE on every product going to air. Generally speaking, setup is not necessary, unless it is.

The biggest question I have is why would you want to bypass your Mojo? You are looking at the most true representation of your ouput – what you are looking at is what is going to tape.

    AND…

Make sure you digitized your footage in an ‘M’ resolution. You won’t be able to play multiple streams of HD in multicam mode….

Uninstall the current copy of Quicktime through Windows (start > control panel > uninstall programs), then install the new quicktime:

Make sure you have the proper QT for your system, and the computer OS is correct. Check the readme for that information.

Have you upgraded QT lately? I’ve seen a lot of weird things happen with the wrong version of QT. I can’t find the support matrix for XPress on the website, but the correct version should be in your readme.

Why is the client using Vegas to open your project? More editing? Why not export a QuickTime? Vegas handles QuickTime…

Do you have your deck setup to accept firewire audio? Check your manual and the deck settings to be sure.

An obvious question – do you have your audio tracks activated in the digital cut tool?

Are you importing something with an alpha? Have you checked your options in the import dialog box? You need to ‘invert’ the alpha. I’m not sure why you’re nesting, though. I must be missing something…
