It seems pretty absurd that there is no option for this. You put an effect on 100+ clips, and then change your mind about a look, but the only way to update the effect is to remove it and start over. And the only way to remove a single effect from multiple clips at once is to remove ALL effects from all the clips? Obviously that is a really bad option.

It would be great if the “remove effects” option had a drop down of the effects applied to you could single out the particular “offender.”

Another great option would be if you apply an effect via Presets, changing the preset would update project-wide. In other words, if you apply an effect saved to your presets bin called “skin correct,” but then want to tweak “skin correct” a bit, it updates all the places you have applied that effect.

[EDIT] For what it’s worth, this idea actually *is* implemented, though in a very limited way. When you click “remove effects” for multiple clips, you are presented with a dialogue box that lists check boxes for motion, opacity, and then simply “video effects” and “audio effects.” Obviously they are able to single things out (they are doing it), so the fact that they don’t present the option for individual effects is even more frustrating.

Agree. It’s “cleaner” to remove 4 progressive frames than to deinterlace.

  • Lots of suggestions here for how to fix by creating a Dynamic Link, but how does one simply find where the non-working filter was applied in order to remove it? That was the original question, and that’s the answer I came here looking for. Anybody got a suggestion?

For the record, this error is popping up for me in a Premiere CS6 project that was imported from an earlier version of Premiere, so while it’s a compatibility issue, it has nothing to do with After Effects.

edit: Oddly enough, the error is calling it an AE filter (AE.RG MBCC –I’m assuming that’s Magic Bullet Colorista?), but I’ve never even opened AE.

February 3, 2014 at 5:50 pm in reply to: CS 6 open multiple projects…YES you can

As far as the title of this thread goes… no, you actually can’t (at least that I am aware of).

Importing a project and having two (or more) open at the same time definitely aren’t the same thing. Others have called the difference minor, but I don’t think that’s quite right either.

For instance, I’m creating a promo reel right now (a compilation of shots from many projects). Having to import entire projects (or even just sequences, if I could possibly remember which specific sequence from a project I wanted to import –which is asking a LOT) is a FAR CRY from opening a project without closing the current project, selecting the footage I want, and simply copy/pasting it into the new project.

Way back in the day you used to be able to have multiple Premiere projects open at the same time to do this (it was a setting in the preferences).

I’m kind of assuming it’s too taxing on the CPU or software to do that these days? (though it seems to be an option in FCP, so…)

For this project (the promo reel), there are several feature projects where importing the entire project obviously isn’t an option (tons and tons of footage). Opening the project to go in and make a note of which sequences I want and then importing those specific sequences once I go back into the reel project is no better than continuously opening and closing projects and cutting and pasting.

Being able to have multiple projects (even just two) open at once would be a MASSIVE time saver.

Thanks for posting this, Rob. Just saved me from having to re-import a lot of audio.

FWIW (very old thread, but what I was looking for!), you can change a clip color by selecting the clip and then going to Edit>Label>Color. There are eight colors to choose from.

July 18, 2013 at 1:43 am in reply to: Out of Memory. How Cut Original Clips to Smaller

    Wow. Not a single response.

I’m looking for the same answer. I assume it’s a pretty simple solution, but…

I’m capturing some vhs footage. I’m not going to sit around and stare at the screen to be sure I hit “stop” when the VHS Program is over, so I inevitably end up with several (or ten) minutes of static at the end of the clip. I don’t want to waste hard drive space with 10 minutes of static, so I’d like to edit the original avi (truncate; remove that 10 minutes).

Can I do this in Premiere without actually rendering the clip and possibly losing quality (setting new in and out points for the clip and then exporting with Adobe Media Encoder), or must I use another program?

Out of curiosity, what version did they implement this? Doesn’t seem to work in CS4 (I’ll be upgrading to CS6 this week).

February 11, 2013 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Workflow: 1080 60p from Panasonic HDC-TM700 camera

Totally understood, Gary… just clarifying for future thread readers.

There is a lot of back and forth in the thread regarding whether or not the camera can capture 60p (which it can) where the original poster just wondered if that was the case (not whether or not the camera could handle 60p signal output -which was kind of a thread derail).

Thanks for all the added information though! It’s good to have for anyone in the future stuck using that camera for whatever reason (like I was this past week).

I’ll be happy to get back to my DSLR’s and rented RED’s now. [smile]

February 7, 2013 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Workflow: 1080 60p from Panasonic HDC-TM700 camera

FWIW, I came to this thread looking for some specs/advice on using this camera in 24p mode (which doesn’t seem to support manual controls and also seems to actually be converted 60i, so I’m thinking I’ll shoot 60p or 60i and convert it myself in post rather than let the camera do it).

What I found interesting was this huge heated argument that apparently started with:

“1080 60p does not exist on a prosumer cameras”

When it DOES in fact exist on this camera. It may only exist via USB/File Transfer, which Mr. Adcock later admits, but it absolutely exists (i.e. You can shoot “true” 60p with this camera). If Mr. Adcock had stated that 60p does not exist on the video out, which apparently is what was required for HIS needs, that would have been a completely different conversation.

I’m only pointing this out for those who may use this camera and wonder what in the heck is going on (q: “Can I use this camera to shoot 60p?” a:absolutely, but the video out does not support 60p, so you will need to transfer the files to work with the 60p footage).

I’m not sure why transferring files (vs. capturing via video out) can’t be considered a “professional workflow,” but I guess that is yet another conversation.
