The only thing I can think of is that the window is opening off-screen somewhere or behind another window.

What kind of sound card do you have and what audio drivers are you using? Perhaps it doesn’t support 44.1. For example, if you are using a Creative audio product with the Creative ASIO drivers, you might find that the hardware only supports 48K.

I would use nested projects for each green screen and it’s background. It’s just like nested comps in After Effects if you’re familiar with AE. The nested projects would act just like any other media.

Are you importing them as an image sequence? (I believe Movie Studio has this option) This will make Movie Studio treat them as footage allowing you to specify the frame-rate. Also be sure that the image size and the project size match. You don’t need the images bigger than the project and it will slow down playback if you don’t match them.

How did you capture the clips and what format are they? If they are HDV and you used the Vegas HDV capture with scene detection on then that’s your problem. There is a known bug that does not correctly split on scene boundaries so you have frames from the other scene.

You may have rendered using a template that does not use square pixels and some playback applications are smart enough to know this and some are not. If your target device is a PC/web then use a template that has a pixel aspect of 1.0. If your target device is a TV then don’t worry about it. TV’s understand pixel aspect and will play them correctly.
