importance of video card in editing/preview
I am putting together a custom system and wanted to know if anyone could suggest a good video card for HD editing, specifically 1920×1080 AVCHD. All I am looking for is good, quality video and quiet. There are tons on the market now that its confusing. The hardware I will be buying in addition to the video card is as follows:
Intel Core i7 940 (2.93Ghz)
ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX
CORSAIR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Full Tower ATX Case
Vista 64-bit UltimateI have Dell 2407 and a 21″ Samsung monitors. The Dell will be used for editing and the 21″ Samsung for monitoring. Both are DVI.

I ended up going with the following. At the last minute I decided to go with the 2xSAS 15k, and the Plextor Combo drive. I’ll use the SAS drives for a RAID 0 video editing drive. Can’t wait!
