  • Masking out a sign in a video

Hi – my first post here (although I’ve lurked for ages) and I hope someone might be able to help.

Using Vegas Pro 8 and I have a scene where 2 characters walk past a plain white wall; the camera was static for this shot. On the wall is a small sign which I need to remove. I’d like it to be replaced by a bit of white wall.

With a static picture I’d just copy a small piece of the plain wall, feather that selection and drop it over the sign to cover it seamlessly.

I’m trying to work out the best way to do that in the video.

    Any help appreciated!

You do it the same way in video. As long as the people don’t walk in front of the sign, just duplicate the track, use the cookie cutter to isolate a piece of white wall and move the pan/crop on the upper track so that the white wall cut-out is over the sign on the lower track.
