The Quality slider is meaningless in that codec (many other codecs, too)…its not a variable compression codec.

Just select every clip in the timeline…right click and select “remove attributes” then check distort.

If your tapes are DV50, you should capture DV50.
1:1 is a waste of space and will not improve the picture, since the compression was already done in camera.
2:1 is probably degrading the image to a small degree as you are essentially double compressing everything.
There would be some benefit in capturing in 1:1 or 2:1 if you were shooting DV25, as that codec uses the inferior 4:1:1 color space….DV50 is 4:2:2, like the others.

Can you try opening the Audio Suite Tool anyway? This might make it happy.

thats what i was referring to. sometimes doing that will improve the image a bit…but you really need to be monitoring externally to get the real picture.

BTW, the settings weren’t deleted, FCP just doesn’t display them.”Since you are not using them anyway, have you tried removing the AJA display settings…perhaps there is a limit to how many FCP can load at any one time.
