Most of the time audio post happens after the picture is “locked.” Otherwise, syncing the audio to the video (or vice versa) becomes a nightmare.

Try force rendering the transition. I’ve seen this a couple of times. I never figured out why it was happening. There was no render line showing, but if I did a render-only > full, it transitioned properly.

Try dropping your exported 1080 file into Compressor, and use an SD preset (Prores, 8-bit uncompressed, etc). Turn Frame Controls on and select Best for quality choices. You might have to do some minor cropping. Try it with a short clip first to see how it works. This will take a while to encode.

I’m not sure I understand your description, but it may be a result of the HDV format. HDV is a form of Mpeg-2 which has dependency between frames. Thus a problem with one frame can affect several following frames rather than just that one. This might be what you’re seeing.

Try capturing a short HDV clip as Prores and see if it looks better. If you post a short clip, it might be easier for folks to give you feedback.

Have you installed Flash Encoder? You need that for QT or FCP to export flv. When you Export from QT you choose Movie to Flash Video (flv). When you click Options you can adjust various settings. In FCP, Export Using QT Conversion. In Format choose Flash Video (flv). Options works as mentioned above. I’ve never used Compressor to make flvs (I use Sorenson Squeeze). I’m not sure you can make flvs with Compressor, but you can make an H.264 and change the extension from .mov to .flv and it will work. The latest Flash Player will work with H.264 files with the extension changed to .flv.

Check if he worked in 29.97. Maybe it’s a non-drop vs drop-frame timecode mismatch. Did you give him a QT of the program along with the OMF. That’s always a good idea as it will make a sync issue obvious.

Have you performed an audio mixdown? If not, try that. Sequence Menu > Render Only > Mixdown.

I’ve always had the best result by exporting a QT (ref or self-contained) and using that file in Compressor.
