    While I’ve never tried doing it, I believe Raylight will write to P2 cards.

    If any of the cameras have 4:2:2 color space that’s preferable. The more color information you have the easier it is to pull a key. That said, you can achieve good keys with most pro and semi-pro cameras. The lighting of the green screen is critical. Search the Cow and you’ll find volumes on this subject.

    Be sure to use ac3 audio, not aiff. You will gain over 1mbps bandwidth. Checkout Videospace – freeware from Digital Heaven.

    If you want accurate timings, keep your timeline in Drop Frame. You can change it in Sequence menu > Timeline Options tab > Check for Drop Frame, not Uncheck for Non-Drop Frame.

    That’s good. Have you successfully captured DV before with this camera? If so, what capture settings did you use? Are you using the same now? Have you tried an Easy Setup for DV and Firewire or Firewire Basic? I’m not at my office so I can’t check theexact naming of DV Easy Setups.

    Many cameras need to be placed in VCR, transfer or FW mode before they will be noticed by FCP. Can you see playback in the camera? If not, the camera might not be compatible with tapes from the Sony.

    This difference has always been the case. I agree with Shane and Jeremy about viewing on a proper broadcast monitor. But I go about it differently for corporate projects I know will be viewed almost exclusively on PCs. Then I’ll make “lightened” version of my encode. Sorenson Squeeze even has a “lighten” preset for this case.

    With the exception of capturing HDV over FW, I’ve never captured SD that way. I’ve always used a deck and capture card. I’m sure it’s similar to the HDV workflow, just changing it to DV. I don’t know if DV can be captured to ProRes over FW. Rafael will probably know. You can drop the DV into a DV50 timeline & edit as Rafael mentioned above. That will also treat graphics and text much better than a DV timeline. Rafael, please correct me if I’m wrong.
