Capture settings?
I’m struggling to capture some footage for a friend.
He filmed it on a camera (I believe a Sony not sure what model) and wants me to transfer his footage with my Canon HV40 onto Final Cut Pro.
I can’t seem to get the software to regonise the camera and can’t figure out the settings.
I thought it would be as simple as DV Pal (He captured it as DV footage).
Can anyone help? It’s DV, 16:9 and it’s connected by Firewire.

Many cameras need to be placed in VCR, transfer or FW mode before they will be noticed by FCP. Can you see playback in the camera? If not, the camera might not be compatible with tapes from the Sony.

That’s good. Have you successfully captured DV before with this camera? If so, what capture settings did you use? Are you using the same now? Have you tried an Easy Setup for DV and Firewire or Firewire Basic? I’m not at my office so I can’t check theexact naming of DV Easy Setups.
