How to scroll/pan across a picture?
Posted by Edward Calabig on February 7, 2010 at 1:34 amI’m making a documentary and was wondering how you scroll/pan across/voom in/out of a still picture (kind of like those archaic history educational videos).

February 7, 2010 at 2:00 amYou start with an image that’s bigger than your frame size. That allows space to zoom in, pan, etc. In FCP you can set keyframes in the motion tab. However, FCP is challenging to get good results. It’s better to do this in Motion. If you search the Cow you’ll find posts and tutorials. Also, Digital Heaven has a plugin called DH_Box which is a handy tool that works inside FCP. Many folks do this work in AfterFX which affords excellent control.

I cannot stress how easy this free plugin makes the ‘Ken Burns’ style of moves on still images
https://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/panandzoom/Another company makes a similar plugin and charges $199!!!!
Here is a little demo video to show you how it works too.
