Right click on the sequence and select “make clips independent”. The use media manager to make an offline of the project. Batch capture in the new project and it will only grab what you need.

We have an Xserve hooked to one G5 and can mont it on our other boxes over gigabite ethernet. It works fine for DV and DV50 editing shared 3 ways. It will drop frames occasionally but for most editing it works fine. When a room needs to output then we have to be careful not to all hit the Xserver at the same time. I would think any fast local storage could be shared in the same way. Just be aware of the limits.

Use the 3D text tool and animate from the controls panel, NOT the motion tab. This is a vector tool and can be zoomed to fill the frame with no pixelization.

Check all your time remaps. They often don’t relink correctly. If you check the remap in the motion tab it’s pretty easy to spot the bad key frames. Make sure fonts match from system to system. Freeze frames almost never make it thru a system transfer.

This works with QT 6.5 PRO on a mac or PC. Open the QT file. Get movie properties. Select the video track from the left drop down and time code from the right drop down. You willl see off-tape time displayed. Might have to buy QT pro for your transsciber.

It may be too many fonts loaded. On one of our systems an art director came in and insisted that he needed access to the elevendy billion fonts on his special font disc. The basic text tool in 4.5 displayed the behavior you discribe. Actually we found that the drop down appeared behind the viewer window. Anyway- deleting the extra fonts fixed it.

We tested what Jeff suggested in his #2 post. Played FCP Firewire out to a second mac with i-chat and it worked great. We used a phone to talk to the client. Or biggest issue was most corporate IT departments don’t want to punch holes in their firewalls to allow I-chat in.

Firewire will do DV 720×480 411 or DV50 720×480 422. You’ll need to go out to SDI to get true 601 720×486 422. Can you explain why you need to do this?
