i just got a new i-sight camera…(it helps with our creative meetings) !

i don’t know if anyone knows the answers here but here it goes !

    1) i can’t use my i-sight while i’m in final cut pro…
    i’m using a dsr-11…
the dsr-11 comes up as an option so i don’t know.

    2) since dsr-11 is an option can i pump video thru…in essence letting someone watch me edit on ichat ?

    thanks

    1) The iSight is seen by the computer as simply a firewire camera. Becuase it can only deal with one firewire camera/deck at a time you’ll have to pick one or the other depending on what you’re doing.

    2) I know for a fact that you could play a tape in the DSR-11 and someone could watch that over iChat but I don’t know that they could watch live editing. That would require the video to go OUT of the computer from Final Cut and then back IN to the computer in iChat. I think only one application at a time can play with a device so I don’t know that it would work. Now, if you had a SECOND Mac you could run the firewire out of the first Mac into the firewire and iChat of the second Mac and you’d get that result.

We tested what Jeff suggested in his #2 post. Played FCP Firewire out to a second mac with i-chat and it worked great. We used a phone to talk to the client. Or biggest issue was most corporate IT departments don’t want to punch holes in their firewalls to allow I-chat in.

yes corporate would be a problem…
we are thinking of using it so that everyone on our creative team can get on the same page…
    graphics…music…ect.

    thanks for the help guys.

well my partner and i share an office,,,but we also have home studios…
it would just make it easier with any questions or collaborations ?

i’m sure there is a very expensive way to share projects and desktops over the net…
but having worked with i-sight for a day and a half…i just saw a possibilty !
