June 22, 2010 at 1:22 am in reply to: Scene selection menu in DVDA: how to exclude chapter #I would avoid the templates all together and create your own menus in vegas with whatever you want to use as a thumbnails. Bring that into DVDA and then add empty buttons for each and then link those to your markers.

Let me add to what Roger stated about auto ripple. It can really make a mess of things especially if you have many tracks, events, keyframes, envelopes, etc on the timeline. Do yourself a huge favor and save the project under a different name first then try your hand at auto ripple. Place your scrub line where you would like to move the events in your time line. Zoom out and take a look at the overall tracks and events to see what you will be moving. If for example you have multiple tracks that are out of view you wont know what is being moved. There are three options with the auto ripple so check the help file to get a good understanding of what each does. Click and drag your media and watch to see what is being moved. Don’t forget however to be sure to select lock envelopes to events or you’ll make more work for yourself. PRACTICE WITH IT ON YOUR COPY…. There are other ways to do this but without seeing your timeline it is not easy to advise you in more detail. When in doubt make a copy and work on that.

No John I have not reported it as of yet. I’ve never seen it reported anywhere and thought it was one of those rare oddities. Certainly I will report it to Sony to add to the list but I suspect there will not be a whole lot of thought and resources dedicated to it. With two PC’S and a dual boot Mac my only solution was to use Mac formatted drives. I do wonder what other people are doing that have a similar situation. I’ll send them a report…thanks.
Some years ago I found a bug with Vegas 5 when importing a disc from a Sony camcorder. It created ridiculously long file names that would crash every time. Took a while to figure that one out. Both Sony products…hmmm…
It has become a norm these days to figure work arounds. -
Great tip John…another nugget I could have used a few times already.

That is an awfully long segment going to black. Before anything else why not try to render those portions that go to black using another format. If that still shows the same problem then look to the timeline for something. Did you perhaps use the track Automation function? Are those sections muted? Hard to tell without being there. Let me know.

It sounds simple and I have never had the occasion to do it. So how does the SD portion that is rendered in HD get handled? Since there is a lack of information and it does not meet the specs for HD is there a compliance issue. Do you have any examples I can look at? Thanks for the help.

I like it….thanks for the info

Was this new to version 9? I’ve never tried doing this in version 8 and would kick myself for wasting so much time if it did work. Thanks for the update.

I don’t see a way to lock an entire track but there might be a better way than mine someone else may know.
