just purchased vegas pro 9.0 (had been using 8.0b for some time — but needed to work with mov and mp4 video).
    here is my problem:
when i render to wmv (smallest format), some sections of the video (source is all mp4 and mov) are all black (as if i had left a space or inserted blank media).
when i play back the project in vegas, none of the black appears.
the first time i had this problem, i expanded the timeline and discovered that two of the video pieces appeared fine — but even in playback in vegas — played back black.
so, i deleted those two segments (practice vid — zi8 files).
rendered as mp4 — no problems.
rendered as wmv, now nearly all segments render as all black.
    here’s the vid:

    black appears at

    1:01
    1:51 till end slide
    i’m baffled.
could the black be mov files?
    thoughts?

That is an awfully long segment going to black. Before anything else why not try to render those portions that go to black using another format. If that still shows the same problem then look to the timeline for something. Did you perhaps use the track Automation function? Are those sections muted? Hard to tell without being there. Let me know.

I found one of your other posts that advised to render to the Sony mp4 format. I did. Worked fine.
Eevn more odd, I rendered to wmv again and different segments went black.
I’ve been using 8.0 for two years or so – I looked around for oddities on settings.
    Couldn’t find a thing.
However, all is well using other formats.
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I was able to help someone with an audio problem in the meantime.
