I gave up trying to figure out why the one project refused to cooperate so I started over anew and of course it worked. I’ve come across so many instances like this when for some unknown reason Vegas decides it is not going to operate as planned.
To answer one of the queries posted, there were no FX’S on anything, nothing at all except jump cuts. So again I have no idea why it did this. Thanks for trying to help, in the long run starting over was the only very frustrating solution.

I have 16gb of high speed ram and do not have any mov files.
These files are all native from Sony Ex1 cams. There must be something I have overlooked

I’ve been researching nesting and watched a myriad of videos and cannot find why this instance does not work. Also experimented with another project and indeed I can cut between the two just as in any other project wherein the nested portion is treated like an event. But no in this current project.
Here is what I have on the timeline…simple
One track is the nested projected and the other is another event source. For some odd reason it will only allow jump cuts and nothing else works when cutting between the two.
Could there be something I have done to prevent this from happening?
My tests in other instances (new projects) does work so what would or could prevent it from working here? Perhaps I am not offering sufficient info to assist so please ask as need be to move this along. -
I guess I need to shift focus then.
Here I am thinking the easy one would be the most efficient. It does get tiresome having to seek out alternate solutions to what should be simple issues.
Will give it a try…thanks

Steve in addition have you noticed a serious lag when changing font styles where you will get the … in the preview window as it updates?
It boggles my mind on a high end system to see it brought to a crawl simply by changing a font. I’m not even talking about scrubbing the timeline simply just selecting different fonts.

I am unclear as to what you mean by “custom composite filter”. I’ve watched John Rofrano’s tutorial and posted in the Vegas forum and he has no issues with a slower machine. If you could elaborate I would appreciate it.Thanks

April 6, 2014 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Vegas 11 32bit: Is it normal to render 10hrs???Dave you touched on a point I had never seen discussed before and would ask if you could provide little more in depth on how to find plug ins that are not programmed to access all the cores.
If you have read any of my recent posts I have been plagued by some issues with rendering and editing. Without going into all the details suffice it to say I have a brand new self built system with all new fresh loads of SVP SUITE, Boris Red, BCC running on Win7PRo.
So I was wondering if your point could be related to what I am experiencing.
Thanks

Sorry I am coming back to this at such a late date but I wanted to update you and get your thoughts on my persistent issue. Wild cards FX works for me but still runs very slowly.
What I did notice is the sound of the media drive being accessed intensely with only the slightest of timeline cursor movement. My Media drive is a Velociraptor 1GB 10000 RPM.
Don’t know why I never paid attention to it before but it actually sounds like the media has lost focus and is constantly being reloaded although I have not changed the top level window to another program.
(Side note:SUPER FETCH has been turned off)It only seems to do it with this FX and I have not experimented in depth with others at this point.
This is my last ditch effort before I do a reinstall of all my software.
Thanks John as always for all the assitance

Goodbye PC if this happens…never thought I would say it but I have had it.
