    My example was using R21, and I would hope that R15 would give similar results but I don’t have access to it to check. Anyway, can you post a screenshot of your render settings?

    It sounds like you are just trying to render a single image. If that’s the case, all you should need to do is to select the destination path, and give the render a name. In the example below I have selected the desktop as the path, and named the image “Picture.” The resulting file is labeled “Picture.png.” If that’s not what’s happening for you post a screenshot of your render settings.

    Hi Joe,

    I’m confused about what you’re trying to do, so perhaps you could be a little more specific. If you are rendering a single image C4D will give it whatever name you list in the “File” window of the render settings. But if you are rendering an image sequence each successive render must be given a different file number in order to avoid overwriting previous renders. If you are expecting all the files of an image sequence to have the same name, but without different file numbers to distinguish them, you may be confused about the process. For more info on automating the naming and saving of files see the Help content under “Edit Render Settings: Save.”

    If that doesn’t help, please clarify what you are trying to do and how you would like to name your renders and distinguish between them.

    I’m not sure what you’re trying to do, so for best exposure I would suggest creating a new post and describing (and including a simple project file if possible) just what you’re trying to accomplish. That way readers may be able to offer some solutions to your question, and perhaps suggest other approaches to your ultimate goal.

    Someone better versed in xpresso than I am may be able to supply a more elegant solution, but since a cloner will cycle through whatever objects (and their order) are placed inside it, just create your desired sequence there.

  • I can’t recreate the issue in R19, 20 or 21. Could you upload the project file (or a simplified version that shows the issue) so that we could take a look at it?

    I’m glad to help if I can, but unfortunately I think using the OpenVDB Mesher is limiting in trying to get thin geometry as it seems to be designed for generating thicker volumes. In a few experiments I was only able to get somewhat thinner trails by switching to B-Splines in the Trail parameters and adding more uniform points. Otherwise, simply reducing the size of the point radius in the Mesher settings resulted in nothing rendering. As I haven’t used the OpenVDB Mesher in a while I’m kind of relearning it myself, but I’ll keep playing around with it and let you know if I find anything helpful. As far as thinner “veins” are concerned, you could always sweep the trails, but that may not be the look you’re going for. Good luck with the project.
