If, within a sequence, I set in and out points, then Cmd C, then Cmd V at a blank place in the same sequence, nothing happens — nothing is either copy or pasted.

I have Premier CS6.0.1 running on 2 different MBPs OS10.6.8 (two licenses) and it is the same on both systems.

    Any additional thoughts?

    Thanks,

Thanks Craig. As I start to transition to Tbolt, it good to see that adapters are becoming available.

BTW, have you seen any cases to change over my OWC mini e-sata/FW800 to Tbolt/USB3/FW800 yet:-)

    Thanks again.

July 4, 2012 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Facts check on Cinema Camera

Thanks for the clarification on the imager size. So, I should assume that when Sony says ½ inch they are talking about the diagonal size (or 12.7mm) which would make the chip approximately 11mm x 6mm (ish)?

Perhaps I should have used both ENG & EFP — probably 80% of my shoots are sit-down interviews w/ sticks & lights. And I am shooting w/ both HPX 250 & EX1R and am able to approximate a shallow DOF, but my client base is starting to ask for a much shallower DOF esthetic which is not practical w/ the above smaller chip cameras. So, the Canon DSLRs, Nex 7, Sony 700 & BM are now being considered for certain applications. They all have their assets and drawback, finding the sweet spot that I can live w/ is a challenge. Re the BM camera, the lack of on board VU (though I’ve read that might change), phantom power, the long term durability of SSD drives, non removable battery etc. makes me think of this camera as very much a work in progress. And although buying equipment is much like throwing darts at an ever growing/spinning wheel, timing is still important. I’d like to have as much info as possible before investing. So, thanks again for your research and insights.

    That did the trick.

    Thanks Juan!

To follow up on your thread; (btw, I am also a FCP refugee)I note that by checking the Use Preview box when exporting, it will include those files as part of the export. Is there a way to change the preview files to ProRes, as opposed to the I frame mpeg, and reduce the time for final export? I often find that w/ many filters applied to a sequence I want to render to proof before exporting, if my preview files are ProRes, I shouldn’t need to re-render, wouldn’t that make the export faster?

I’m grasping for best practices advice for many of the PR work-flows.

    Thanks,

June 8, 2012 at 10:59 pm in reply to: select from here to end of sequence

Thanks for getting back to me. Perhaps I did not explain what I was trying to do. In FCP, if I wanted to separate an interview into just the answers, I would blade at the cut point and be able to hit the “t” key 4 times; this would give me a double arrow and when I clicked on the sequence (following the blade cut) it would select everything later. I could then shift the rest of the sequence down (without fear of putting anything out of sync etc) and insert a title or something else. Is there an equivalent function in PR CS6?

    Thanks,

June 5, 2012 at 3:55 pm in reply to: XDCAM.MOV only bringing in 1 channel of audio

I’ve recently upgraded/transfered to CS6 and since I also shoot w/ EX1R I wanted to check if I was encountering the same audio issues — Yes and No. If I bring in the file from the media browser to the time-line I get one audio track. If I bring the file into the Project folder and (rt click)modify audio to 2 tracks (mono) I get both audio tracks. Let me know if that works for you, or I was just lucky:-)

June 1, 2012 at 5:26 pm in reply to: CS6 Premiere – Waveform monitors

I found that if I change the Reference Sequence monitor to Waveform and gang to Program monitor, I’m starting to get some updates when 3 way CC is changed. I can certainly use Colorista or Looks to do CC, but for minor tweaks I’d always used a 3 way (FCP). I’d love to get a more in depth explanation of the the workings of the scopes and CC.

    Any insights would be appreciated.

May 25, 2012 at 11:12 am in reply to: P2 import general error

I thought that I’d try the updated version of Shotput pro to see if that made any difference. Still running into additional files importing into PR CS6.

To clarify, I am importing the folder that the AVC_I P2s are in. I find that if I go into the Content Folder > Video folder & just import the MXF file, all I get is the singular video file(which is really all that I want). I’m so used to dragging in all of the folders, my muscle memory insisted I continue importing that way. W/ Pr CS6 should I just be importing the MXF files from the Video folder inside the Content Folder?

    Thanks,

Always Shotput pro to two drive before doing anything. Thank for the tip on audio.
