    Nino:

I’ve had the Primera cd duplicator for about 2 years. I was looking to do the 25 to 50 disc run from time to time. My first order was a rush job for 650. (because the hopper only holds 25,I ended up taking it home & running it off my laptop). To date we’ve done thousands of discs without a problem. The only thing that has troubled me has been, when I tell the Primera reps how many discs I’ve done they always ask…”and it’s still working?”. So about a year ago I bought an MF technology dual DVD system. Both systems are working fine to date.

The book in question is Final Cut Pro for Avid Editors by Diana Weynand(Peachpit Press.) It subject matter centers about FC 4. To me, it’s one of the best tutorial type books I’ve ever encountered (I was even able to clarify some things that puzzled me about Avid), and I’ve found the book to be very helpful making the transition to FC4.5.

I am shooting from the hip as far a space required for a 40 min to 1GB at what bit rate calculations is concerned. (GOP size is also a factor, typically 15, but could also be 12 etc.)

I have found that a CBR of 4 with a GOP of 15 comes out to about 3.8GB for 2hrs.

If you are going to go down to 3.5 you will want to do 2 Pass(for quality), and if you have the control of max rate you will need to bring it down close to 3.5.

    Good Luck
