Depends on what kind of motion blur you’re looking for and it also depends on the animation, but yes it’s possible.
One of the ways: CC Force Motion Blur. It works, but it doesn’t give so great results.
If you’re looking for per-pixel motion blur than the only good choice if you ask me is Real Smart Motion Blur from RevisionFX.
Post some more details, and maybe a screen shot or a small mov file, so we could see what you are doing and maybe figure something out.

I think (I almost sure) that both of these clips was recorded with a camera. The color Ink was simply colorized in AE with a layer and blending mode set to hue or color.
Both are pretty possible to do i think using a particle system, but if you consider time needed to set this up and render it, it’s probably better to just get a tank and some ink and just record it with a camera.

I don’t really follow you. What is it that you need? A product/logo/whatever made of small pieces right? Do they have to animate? You said no explosion or scattering or nothing like that. So it’s going to be a still frame?
And what with this zoom part? I don’t get it at all. You said “i just need to be able to move in on them as if doing an extreme close up”. Please explain in more detail.
I’ll be happy to help.

December 5, 2007 at 5:25 pm in reply to: Is there a way for advanced math operations ?Well… there is this plugin called Calculations. You can find it in the Channel section. It helps in some cases. And I believe there are others also.
What you need is pretty cool indeed. I myself was waiting for a functionality of getting RGB values of a given pixel. This functionality came with CS3, so I don’t know how do we have to wait for what you are asking for.
I’ll look into this. Sounds pretty useful and interesting, but I don’t think it is possible at this stage.
Cheers

Theres also a plugin to copy the current frame to clipboard and for example paste it to Photoshop. I used it in one of my tutorials. See it in action here:

It’s really all about RPF files. You can render them out of most 3D packages out there. RPF stores the camera movement that you can also import in AE.
However you cannot just push objects into a rendered scene like the “Drill Press” tag. You would have to create a mask layer using data in RPF. This is possible, but it takes some work, while in Combustion it just works.
Everything you see in Combustion is possible in AE. It’s just a matter of approach and amout of work you have to put in.
I’ll be doing a tutorial on basic RPF usage inside AE, just don’t know when yet.
Cheers
