Try applying Bezier Warp, or any type of Warp effect. Just type “Warp” in your Effects&Presets pallet and it should pop up.

Anything specific in mind? Like for example text dissolves into smoke and disappears or what? Look in the after effects tutorials. I belive there is a tutorial called “Text that blows away like sand” or something like that. That should get you started.
