This bothered me when I first got my Z1 but then I realized the LCD brightness was set too high. Do your camera output to the TV while watching the LCD. Then adjust the LCD on the camera to match the output. You’ll be getting shots a lot closer to what you think you are shooting. It’s the next best thing to having an external monitor.

I use “Flash Video MX” and it is a bargain at $49. It has controls that let you vary size and bitrate, telling you what size the file will be before rendering, lets you know if you are getting outide the internet range and will batch render. The best part is it WRITES THE HTML file for you. You can click or link to the html immediately, alter it to fit with your webpage. Quality is excellent.

In my experience, it will be slow. It depends on what you are doing. If you are only doing small projects of a few minutes it would work.

I have 3 machines that I have used on a feature length project. One is an older Pentium 4 that took 2 days to do a complicated file. I finally gave up. I had a AMD dual core 3800 X 2 that was slow but adequate. My last machine I bought has 2 cpus on the motherboard and both are dual core AMDs.

Hope it helps. I forgot to mention another feature I appreciate — it has sliders for both file size and bits per second. Also, as you adjust these it shows you what your file size will be before render.

You could TRY (not sure it would work) to zoom in and sample it with the secondary color corrector. That might change it.

You could copy the clip to another track, offset it a little and use a small cookie cutter on the upper track to cut it out. It would be small and use feathering.

This works for sure but is tedious: Export the clip. Make a region, “Tools-Scripting-Export image sequence”. Open each still file in Photosphop, remove the pimple with clone stamp tool and resave. Then reimport all the saved corrected stills, “File-import-media.” Click on the first numbered file and then the box in lower left to import the string. Vegas will bring the string of corrected stills back into the media pool. Put them back in the region above the old clip.

I usually use the Wingbat font. When I forget where it is, I type the alphabet, change it to Wingbats, pick out the symbol there. Just type in the corresponding letter and change that one character to Winbat.

I’d like someone to comment on forcing I frames as having an effect on stills – especially if they are over a quick time period.

Thanks for the comment. I’ll try a different cut but your biggest help? It was the VO suggestion. The movie isn’t ABOUT a bank robbery going bad. That is only an event. It is about HOW LIFE WORKS and that should be made clearer. (We all know what happens when a bank robbery goes bad. We’ve seen that a thousand times. For a change, you haven’t seen what happens in this movie a thousand times.)
