Clean the deck… I only see this when it’s got dirt on the heads…

Duplicate the capture preset you are using now, and in the editor window that opens click on the advanced button in the audio area of the window, turn the speakers to on and use this instead of the stock preset.

June 10, 2005 at 4:27 pm in reply to: Equally/Setting Audio Levels in FCP to match Analog Beta DecksI see this too… it’s been there a long time as well. Never got a good answer as to why, but this is how I handle it:
I set the record levels on the Betacam during playback of the audio… then I leave them alone. I go back to the sequence, and play the bars and tone, adjusting the tone until it hits 0 on the beta… This requires that the bars and tone are in the sequence… but what I do is certainly working.

HDV is a rendering time hog… I”m hearing of extremely scary conversion times to MPEG-2 with it… really scary… HD takes a ton less time to down convert to SD DVD’s…and looks spectacular… (but I digress..)

‘Course I’m speculating, but I figure that these cards are going to work in the future Macs.. but also figure that they are 18 months away, they’ll show up in the powermacs when Intel ships the dual core high end chips… and we’ll see two of them in a PM… by that time, AJA will have come up with something new to slap in the mahines and we’ll all be wanting whatever it is…

I’d think that viruses will come into your Mac if you run Windows on it… but not the Mac OS… it’s not a bullet proof OS it’s just a small market share OS… so the hackers don’t write for it… It’s not a big enough splash for them if they succeed.

Remove it by highlighting it’s name in the Filters tab of the clip or nest in the Viewer (option click a nest to open it in the viewer, double click a clip in the timeline to do the same), and tap on the old delete key… or just turn it off by unchecking that little blue box there next to it’s name.

It’s not your hard drives… it’s Compressor (that error message is part of the application itself not hardware). I’d reinstall it.
