Can’t speak for the Decklink card, but can tell you you have external video for AE and Motion with a Kona 2.

You should not capture DV as separate files.
Put all captures and Renders on that FW drive, and put everything else on the startup disk.

yikes… didn’t anybody see this on the set?
I can’t think of an easy workflow at all… possibly fixable in a frame by frame correction… yikes. might be easier to re shoot…

You could capture all four at once with FCP 5 and QT 7, but not with HD… was one of the “new features” in FCP 5…

Tell me more about the workflow… I’m really interested in Final Touch… would things be better if you exported a self contained movie of the composite? or maybe cc the footage before you edit it in or even just export a self contained movie of the whole project file into FT?

Seems to me that your workflow would be better if you captured the video as NTSC instead of HD… Then no renders would be needed. You can do this with a sony machine’s down convert or with the blackmagic card, no? Then for online, only capture what’s used in the sequence after managing it with the Media Manager.

FCP won’t change the resolution of an imported file… However it does change the resolution to the timeline’s settings when you put it in there…but that said, if you aren’t viewing the material externally on a video monitor, you can’t see the resolution that you really have… are you doing this?

You probably didn’t use the advanced pulldown mode when you shot the material, so capture it as 29.97, and if you want to work with true 24fps media files and 23.98 sequence settings, use Cinema Tools to remove the 2:3:2:3 pulldown that you have probably shot… FCP can remove the advanced pulldown pattern on the fly (2:3:3:2) but not the “normal” 24p.
