subclips automatically created afted digitizing
Posted by A.horch on October 13, 2005 at 4:29 pmI’m using 5.0.2, after digitizing using both clip now and batch capture (not using capture now due to bugs with capture now and Xsan) FCP creates the clip as a subclip not a master clip. I know I can highlight the subclips and go to modify-remove subclip limits. I want to know why this is happening, any ideas suggestions?
Thanks.

October 14, 2005 at 1:01 pmIf you log a clip, and then batch capture it, you are saying that it is becoming a subclip? Maybe a better explanation of your workflow might clear this up…

October 14, 2005 at 7:17 pmopen up log and capture
type in reel name
type in description
type in tc in and outs
type in log note
click on log clipmove to next clip and repeat until tape is done.
click on batch capture button and let FCP do it’s thing.
Is there a preference that I have on that I can’t find or something else check marked that I’m overlooking?

October 14, 2005 at 8:40 pmEach of these captured and logged clips should be master clips… there’s no setting that would cause FCP to report these clips as subclips… can you import those captured clips (the QT movies themselves on your scratch disk, and when you do aren’t they master clips?

October 14, 2005 at 9:20 pmI’ve had this on 2 totally different systems. One with a BM HD Pro and one with a Kona 2. I capture in the clip normally and the clip has the sub-clip icon and when I play it it is black. If I remove sub-clip limitations it plays but it at the half way point through the clip it goes to black.

Yes, I can import the clip from the scratch disk and the clip imports fine, as a master clip, Plays fine also. After further review, the captured clip that is created as a subclip does not have all the media attached (as if I did make a subclip with in and out points from a master clip after digitizing) Any more insight? Thanks for the help. -

October 18, 2005 at 2:54 pmthis sounds like a bug, and should be reported by all who see it, however there is a workaround for it thank heavens…
