Not sure at all that reinstalling QT will help with the linking problem…

Open the files in QuickTime Pro, and export them as QT movies using the same pixel count for the frame size that the AVI files had. Then edit the QT movies.

Have you targeted the video and the audio in the timeline window? if not, that’s the problem..

Did you do a completely clean install of Tiger before you ran the FCP 5 install disk? If not, do that before you spend any money… You don’t have to have FCP HD or earlier installed at all, just have it’s serial number handy.

It’s in the Sequence settings… there’s a tab there to click for this “video processing” it’s a popup menu there.

Seems to me you need to consolidate the sequence in Avid, then use automatic duck for the transfer of the consolidated sequence. That sequence should only reference what it contains plus any handles added.

Export a self contained QT movie of the two clips with the dissolve, then edit that file into the sequence as the outgoing shot ending at the beginning of the dissolve… then add the second shot in, and put the zoom in starting at that transition and for the duration of the dither.

Might try resetting the PMU button on those system’s logic board… Locations for this button are different from machine to machine, look in Apple’s online search in the support area for help here. Just search Power Management Unit…

Simply drag the DV anamorphic sequence to a new 4:3 DV sequence, render… it creates a DV letterboxed version.
