The clip that will be marked is determined by how you’ve set your auto select lights… the lowest light lit for video will be selected, and the highest light lit for audio… video will trump any audio selections too.
I really find the easiest way to get marked what I want marked is to select the clip in the Sequence, then type shift+a.

I think the cards are pretty comparable… the 512 mb card is certainly better, but costs more of course.

Depends on wether the setting is 8 or 10 bit….
8 bit is about 21mb/sec, and 10 bit is about 28mb/sec Plus audio rates of about 192 kbyts/sec for two tracks… I’d imagine is very close between the two systems.

Try using the media manager to create that offline sequence on the Laptop… select make offline for the duplicated sequence, set it to match the original captured files, and reconnect that copy to the uncompressed media.

Make sure you are running all of the latest drivers for both and you should be OK. If you aren’t after that, then it might be time for a totally clean install if you didn’t do this when (if) you upgraded to Tiger. I really think that just “upgrading” to Tiger from an earlier OS is just asking for problems.

Shoot guys! The Kon2e will be out before ya know it, so for about 7-8k you can start over (sounds cheap to me actually comparing this to the old Avid upgrade days) The drives will work, and nothin else… But you could make your current G5’s into capture stations down the line, and just keep them working for you.

Yes it would. When you put a clip or part of a clip in the sequence a NEW reference file is created, and if the source clip had a filter so would the new instance of this file in the timeline… but if you add a filter to the sequence clip (one in the timeline), it will not be added to the original clip in the Browser… so it only works one way as it were.

Are the titles rolling over black? If so, adding a bit of noise to the black may help. You’ll not see it, but it will make the titles look better… also changing speeds sometimes helps too. To add the noise, just generate it from the Generator Button in the Viewer, then lower it’s opacity to like 2 or so.. the codec sees the noise, but the human doesn’t… and renders come out looking a bit better. Use Boris’ Title Crawl tool for the roll too, it looks better to me anyway.
