First you should be judging the quality of the images on an external video monitor, and not rely on the Canvas to show you the actual quality of the renders. They might look fine there. (or not)
If you create titles in Title 3D and use it’s positioning in it’s controls, you’ll find much better looking titles. (especially with DV material).
Any time you use the motion tab to move a title, you are turning it into a bit mapped graphic, and it won’t look as good as a vector based graphic will look (which is what Title 3D creates).

That’s right. There is no real relationship a Browser clip and a sequence clip, other than it references the same media files. When you put any kind of clip from the browser to the timeline window, FCP creates a new reference clip – A Sequence clip. It keeps the editing non destructive that way. All clips will show this same behavior whether or not they are multicliips.

I think I’d use Media Manager to create a copy of the sequence and place it in a new project file, set it to be HDV, then recapture that new sequence. If you want you could also delete unused media and possibly speed up the process.

You have to select the sequences you want to keep, then select the unused option you’ve found using the find command. Copy the media it finds using the media manager… (right click on one of the selected unused clips to open the media manager, then copy all to the new location. When you’ve checked that these copies are OK, then select them all again from the Browser, right click and select “make offline”.

No, you cannot change the language. However it’s available in other languages but you can buy the foreign language versions. Think it comes in French, English, and German… maybe Spanish too… but not sure about that one.

I’d not do that. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. BUT I’d upgrade to Tiger in a heartbeat, then QT 7 is the only way to go there.

Sounds like a problem wih the projector I’d think. However if it looks OK adding the pulldown pattern back, why not just project that way?

There’s a ton of interaction between OS, QT, and FCP… reinstalling them all as a completely new install will very likely fix all of your problems if you had stability at one point, you can get it back by doing the above. At the school I teach at part time, we do this as a matter of course every semester, and find incredible stability on over 100 systems. I personally do it every 6 months… things just stay copacetic that way.

Click on the Options button once you select AVI… then choose the same format that the source material was in the first place. Changing the codec isn’t going to buy you anything but a larger file. i.e. you can’t improve the video from where it is now don’t think…
